The Arts

The Music Program provides a wide variety of musical activities for all students. In the lower grades they learn rhythm, tone, pitch, and how to play a variety of simple percussion instruments. The older grades learn to play the recorder, the xylophone and other advanced instruments according to their skill level.

The Visual Arts Program exposes the children to many different artists' styles as they learn about the history of art. The students are encouraged to develop their own style as they are introduced to varying facets of art across the curriculum. The principles and elements of art are taught in many different and exciting ways. A traditional theme in which the whole school participates and proves to be most memorable, is creating decorations for the large 20-foot Christmas Tree which is erected for our School Christmas Program each year.

The Performing Arts Program has long been a source of pride for GNCS students. Children develop confidence and public speaking skills through drama, dance, and a variety of school plays throughout the year. Every three years a whole school musical is held, in which every child in the school participates.
