GNCS Event: The Floating Princess

It gives me great pleasure to welcome all of you to GNCS's musical. I thank you for your support of the students in the show. It is very exciting that every student in our elementary program will be on stage. In fact, some of the upper grade students remember wearing the same animal costumes that you will see when they were young. They have fond memories of wearing them in the musical The Story of Hansel and Gretel in the spring of 2000.

Just over eight weeks ago, as we were just getting started, Sue, our director, and I spoke with the students about the difference between process and product, and the importance of each. The journey (process) which our whole school has been on has included casting, blocking the scenes, singing practices, learning hand motions, helping with the set, and many more. At each of our practices, we remind the actors of the importance of doing their best each and every day, and of always treating each other well. Why? Aside from the obvious, we have been told by past participants that what stands out in their mind about the musical experience is not necessarily the final performance, but all of the fun they had at practices day in and day out! We hope you enjoy the performance (product). We had a blast preparing it for you, and, so, if there is a glitch, please forgive us!

Sincerely, Phil Parker, Principal

P.S. Please join me in thanking Sue Bellinger for directing her fourth musical! She is so great with the students. I am grateful to have the opportunity to work with her.

The Floating Princess was directed, produced, managed, designed and staffed by the Faculty and Staff of the Glenview New Church School.

Special thanks to the following people for their generous contribution: Jerry Fuller, Malcolm Acton, Jon Smith, Tracey Riley, Sandy Parker, and the parents of our students.
