Elementary Education Support Teacher
SUMMARY JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Glenview New Church School is currently seeking an Illinois certified Early Education teacher to join our faculty. Past certification that has recently expired is acceptable. This individual will be interested in working in a multi-graded classroom setting ranging from preschool through grade 2; have a desire to individualize the education of each student; and have a willingness to engage in all team building and professional growth opportunities, as stipulated. As a school that is focused on providing an academically sound and spiritually oriented education to all students, this individual will be excited about teaching in a New Church school, and will be willing to work with the team to further the school’s mission in our community.
The Glenview New Church School is at a pivotal point in its 100+ year history, with a hard-earned system-wide commitment to expanded relevance within the Glenview community. SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Establish with the Homeroom teacher behavioral and learning targets, procedures for proactively and responsively achieving those targets with each child, methods for tracking results, and appropriate responses when those targets are not being met.
- With the Homeroom Teacher, plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, investigate, and lead.
- Maintain a consistent focus on the learning and not only the teaching.
- Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health.
- With the Homeroom teacher, adapt the environment and teaching methods to the students in the class recognizing that there is diversity in learning styles which require diversity in teaching.
- Support the Homeroom Teacher in the preparation of materials and classrooms for class activities.
- Instruct students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods.
- Read books to entire classes or small groups.
- Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress.
TOOLS AND TECHNOLOGY SKILLS:
Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook a plus.
