Early Education Teacher:
grades Preschool and Kindergarten through Grade 4 (Full-time, or several Part-time)
The Glenview New Church School is seeking a full-time, or several part-time, early education teachers beginning in the 2010-2011 school year. This individual (or these individuals) will be interested in working in a multi-graded classroom setting ranging from preschool through grade 4; have a desire to individualize the education of each student; and have a willingness to engage in all team building and professional growth opportunities, as stipulated. As a school that is focused on providing an academically sound and spiritually oriented education to all students, this individual will be excited about teaching in a New Church school, and will be willing to work with the team to further the school’s mission in our community.

Position Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will be accountable for the stewardship of The New Church’s founding values and teachings.
- Create a learning environment that is appropriately challenging and supportive of students in age groups 3-10.
- Integrate the New Church faith into the classroom through instruction, modeling and interaction.
- Utilize the principles of New Church Education in all forms of education and all class subjects.
- Design and utilize projects and educational experiences that use the environment to help students seek knowledge, learning and accomplishment.
- Implement an instructional program that maintains high academic standards.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs.
- Prepare long-range and weekly lesson plans.
- Demonstrate knowledge and use of sound educational principles and practices using progressive models and appropriate assessments.
- Make use of surroundings and natural resources in accomplishing lessons.
- Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Develop strong, positive and proactive relationships with students and parents.
- Participate with other faculty and school staff to create an exciting and supportive team environment.
- Demonstrate a willingness to pursue education, training and self development to stay current in effective teaching methods and approaches.
- Participate in school and school community social and education events.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education, Certifications, and Work Related Experience:
- Bachelors degree or higher (masters degree preferred)
- Teaching experience or previous work with youth valued
- New Church educational study valued-could be acquired post hire
- Experience in a faith-based school sought
- Experience with a Professional Learning Community continuous improvement model a plus
- Knowledge of constructivist pedagogies and progressive learning models sought

- Demonstrates a strong work ethic to achieve school goals

- This teaching assignment could be accomplished through one full time position or two part time positions.
